Like many people who actively go to the gym, I had high school (beginner) knowledge of my weightlifting and cardio training. Because we don’t actually learn how to correctly lift and customize workout plans for our individual needs, we end up overworking our bodies later on in life. That’s exactly what happened to me. Hugh has helped me and my husband rethink our concepts of fitness in a positive way, with kind, patient, and gentle perspective re-framing; “Your goals are important, so come to the gym with intention. What do you want from your workouts?”
For me, I had always equated more weight on the bar, or more intensity in the workout to weight loss. But after identifying a couple medical issues this year, Hugh has helped me tailor my workouts to help provide a balance between muscle building and preventing my medical issues from flaring. For my husband, his goals were different. Hugh has taught him how to effectively bench press to be able to maximize his press potential.
